The Chateau Buena Vista Collection

 

By seeking the best combinations between varietal and terroir, Buena Vista pays tribute to the man who did much to shape Californian winemaking. Three wines make up the range, which puts the spotlight on both terroir and the grape.

 

A Cabernet-Sauvignon Napa Valley grown in an area with a similar profile to Bordeaux. Long ageing of 28 months in French oak barrels with 25% new wood results in an opulent wine, with aromas of plum and cherry, underscored by notes of cardamom and licorice over silky tannins.

 

As for the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the choice fell on the Sonoma region, which has many geographical and climatic similarities with Burgundy, and therefore favors the same varietals.

 

The Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast here gives full expression to its finesse and depth. Eleven months ageing in French oak barrels, with 25% new wood, reveals a wine with complex, delicate aromas of black berries and dark chocolate, underscored by soft tannins.

 

The Chardonnay Carneros exhibits intense aromatic depth due to vinification in whole bunches and ageing for 14 months in barrels with 30% new wood. This sun-drenched wine offers nice acidity with notes of tropical fruits like mango and pineapple, and a sustained finish.
