The official recognition of the appellation Côtes-de-Provence Sainte-Victoire, the first Cru to be recognised in Provence, marks the culmination of thirty years of collective endeavour. It marks a historic milestone for this terroir, whose depths Villa Moncigale has been exploring for years in the foothills of Montagne Sainte-Victoire.
On these slopes, the deep clay-limestone soils, the altitude and the temperature range combine to produce rosé wines that are at once precise, structured and immensely fresh. Long accepted as an additional geographical indication, Sainte-Victoire will be recognised as a Cru in its own right from the 2025 vintage onwards, a richly-deserved recognition of the quality and singularity of this terroir.
For Villa Moncigale, this represents a natural evolution and the continuation of the work overseen by viniculturist Aurélie Saadi, the auteur behind a clutch of exceptional rosés from the self-same terroir. And naturally, the 2025 vintage of Cicada Olympe will proudly bear the appellation Côtes-de-Provence Cru Sainte-Victoire Bio on its label.

Born at the foot of Montagne Sainte-Victoire, Cicada Olympe takes full advantage of the altitude and the limestone soils to produce wines beloved for their freshness, energy and aromatic complexity. Made entirely with fruit from organically-farmed plots, Cicada Olympe embodies Villa Moncigale’s commitment to crafting wines which are true to their origins and respectful of nature.
The whole winemaking process is designed to prioritise purity: harvesting at night, direct pressing and fermentation at controlled temperatures. Ageing on fine lees dials up the contrast and finesse. In keeping with the strict quality policy, 7% of the cuvée is aged in demi-muids and barrels of 2 to 3 wines, bringing added substance and depth without overshadowing the innate style. This is a rosé redolent of its terroir, tightly-structured and precise, the perfect way to mark the birth of this new Cru appellation in 2025.
