Devastating fires descended upon Napa and Sonoma at the end of September, the two areas where DeLoach Vineyards and Raymond Vineyards are based. At the time of writing, the fires are either dying out or being brought under control. The fire known as ‘Glass Fire’ has been burning fiercely over the last few days in Napa and Sonoma counties and has already burnt more than 27,000 ha (67,200 acres). The two estates mentioned above have thankfully been spared and are even ready to welcome back the public! No evacuation order has been given and all the sites should be able to stay open. Naturally, making 2020’s vintage is going to be something of a challenge! Boisset, in common with most of the region’s winemakers, will only make and sell wines that meet the very highest standards. Luckily, most of the best vines were harvested before the fires started, so the estate is in an optimistic frame of mind!
