SPECIAL ISSUE
THE 2020 VINTAGE
Harvest reports and initial tastings
The current public health crisis has certainly marked this year’s harvest, which nonetheless has been
able to go ahead! Despite the year’s record temperatures and lack of rainfall, there is been no lack
of quality, although yields are down, with an especially mixed picture with regard to reds. However,
these have generally been very well-balanced. Overall, we have seen nice levels of acidity, promising
good aging potential…
As the climate has changed, our vines have adapted, as have the harvest dates – as a greatly
disrupted harvest schedule can attest, with northern vineyards reaching maturity at the same time
or even before their southern cousins! All regions suffered from drought, but the grapes harvested
were in very good condition everywhere. The grape harvest began in summer (towards mid-August)
in all our vineyards and was over by early autumn (end of September).
We invite you to an overview of 2020’s vintage, one that’s definitely been like no other, as we take
you on a north-south journey through the terroirs of Boisset La Famille des Grands Vins: from the
Jura to Burgundy, Beaujolais to the Rhône Valley and Languedoc. Here are our wine-makers’ initial
tastings and first impressions.
